Equipment

Equipment is our friend! We realize that this is not the case with many ghost hunting groups, but we at P.A.I.N. have chosen to document as much physical evidence as we can. Psychic/Medium evidence definitely has its place and at times can be valuable. Because of this we do have trusted friends that we can bring in to assist when needed.

Each of our members has "felt" a presence or had an intuitive feeling. We are not immune to the physical effects that paranormal activity can cause! However, we assimilate those feelings to help us conduct a thorough, scientific investigation.

Equipment used for investigations (as needed):

1. Digital cameras - This the ghost-hunters best friend and the most essential piece of investigative equipment! Why digital rather than film? To put it simply, it's a cost factor. There is no film to develop. Also, using digital cameras allows us to take hundreds of photos during an investigation. This type of volume increases our chances of catching something paranormal.

2. Film cameras - While not often used, we do have these available as an option should the need arise. We have not found a difference in the amount of paranormal evidence gathered when using film vs. digital.

3. Video cameras - We have several types available: Hi-8, HDD and flash memory. Most of our units are equipped with night-vision for filming in total darkness. Accessories include tripods, infra-red extenders and extended batteries.

4. Digital audio recording devices - Another favorite tool! We have captured some fantastic evidence on our digital recorders and they have become an essential piece of investigative equipment.

5. Night-vision unit - This is a military-grade independent unit that is exceptionally powerful and can be used to light up very large areas in total darkness. It has video-outs allowing us to connect it to a recording device.

6. EMF meters - Used to detect any electromagnetic fields occurring naturally in the environment and given off by electronic equipment. We will do a sweep of a location to get a base reading and look for any abnormally high fields. These EMF fields have often been associated with paranormal activity.

7. Laptop, cables, mobile phones, etc... - Depending on the isolated location of an investigation, it may be necessary to become a self-contained evidence lab. If needed, we have that ability.
