Audio Evidence
*A note about audio clips.
EVP's (Electric Voice Phenomena) can be a very legitimate record of paranormal activity. If steps are taken to minimize contamination, the audio evidence captured can be exceptionally compelling. There are times that the voices are not as clear as we would like them to be! Because of this we use various pc audio software to filter out some of the noise and boost the volume. Some need cleaned up, many do not and are great as-is. In some of our clips you will hear the boosts in volume and changes in the noise levels. They have NOT been altered in any way, only modified slightly to make them more clear. You still may need to turn up your speaker volume to hear the clip clearly.
Moundsville Penn, WV with Beaver County Ghost Hunters
Moundsville Bumps and Bangs - 11/08/2003, Clip taken from audio portion of a video file. You can hear the sounds of cell doors closing and opening. None of this was heard at the time. The prison closed in 1995.
Moundsville "I'm James" - 11/08/2003, Clip taken from audio portion of a video file recorded in the psychiatric ward. Mike, our tour guide and a former guard (including time as a psych-ward guard) later confirmed that one of more popular inmates, Jimmy, had died there shortly before the prison closed. Voice at :03 mark.
Moundsville "Alexander" - 08/13/2004, Analog audio clip. It was odd but it sounds like a woman's voice loudly calling for "Alexander". Recorded in the visiting room, the former cafeteria.
Mansfield Penn, OH with Spirited Ghost Hunting
Mansfield Screams - 7/10/2009, Recorded in solitary confinement. The screams of a man can be heard at :06 and again but fainter at :11.
Mansfield Voice 1 - 7/10/2009, Recorded in solitary confinement. Asked spirits to "rattle our cage" a little bit. At the end of the clip at :14, a voice can be heard saying something. We are unclear on the words.
Mansfield Crash - 7/10/2009, Recorded in solitary confinement. Two of us were in a cell, two members of the OSR staff (and fellow investigators) were in another part of solitary. You can here the OSR members asking the spirits to make the "trespassers" uncomfortable. As I was shutting off the recorder, a huge crash (sounded like a bucket of gravel being poured on top of us) came from the cell located above us and to the left. The noisy cell was in full view of the OSR members and was empty. The beginning of the crash can be heard at :21. This one really startled us! I wish I had left the recorder on for a few more seconds!
Mansfield Answer - 7/10/2009, Recorded in solitary confinement. Asked spirit to make a noise. The first voice can be heard at :03, we're not sure what is being said. The second voice is at :07 and is telling us to "Get out". You will hear an investigator, then voice #1, another investigator, and then voice #2.
Mansfield Response - 7/10/2009, Recorded in the chapel. Investigator asked if the sprits liked us being there. A loud crash is then heard. We could find no evidence of anything that fell and all doors were closed, sealing us in the chapel alone. This was alarming at the time!
